Coffee Talk #250: Choose Your Own Coffee Talk!

I’ve been wanting to do a mailbag type of thing for a while, but not in a straight-up way. Instead, I’m going to ask you to ask me some questions. If you have any questions for me about covering videogames, the developers I’ve met, crazy events, etc., please ask them…

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the RPad.tv merchandise sale, football on Thursdays, or the return of the Microsoft Kin, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

I’ve been wanting to do a mailbag type of thing for a while, but not in a straight-up way. Instead, I’m going to ask you to ask me some questions. If you have any questions for me about covering videogames, the developers I’ve met, crazy events, etc., please ask them and I’ll use them for a future Coffee Talk column. I’m counting on you to come up with some fun stuff for me to expand on. After all, your participation is what makes my site worth visiting. Now kindly put on your thinking caps (what the hell is a thinking cap anyway?) and get asking!

  1. I've got two but one is a two part question

    1. What did you before gaming journalism and what made you become who you are today?

    2. Without names (if you choose) which gaming event did you attend to that ending up being one crazy ass party that people still talk about?

I might have more for you later.

    1. yeah im a dork

i actually feel bad cause ray might have thought i was serious there for a second

      @smartguy

      unbelievable

  2. 1 or 2 serious question. The rest are just there….

Do you get invited to events or do you have to actively seek them out and invite yourself?

How many video games do you own?

Is there a game (genre or series) that no matter what good things are said about it you just can't bring yourself to play?

    What color is your fridge?

    Do you have pets?

  3. I think he's really just trying to get us to help him come up with future Coffee Talk ideas for when he can't think of one (like today, coming off a really good Coffee Talk subject from yesterday).

    So….

    Favorite NES games?

    Favorite SNES games?

    Favorite GEN games?

    Favorite PS1 games?

    Favorite PS2 games?

    Favorite N64 games?

    Favorite GC games?

    Smoking?

    Music?

    First CD you owned?

If you could be (or were in a previous life) a dinosaur, which one?

Why are Helen Keller jokes funny?

In the first Superman movie, Superman flew around the world so fast, the spun the other way and reversed time… what's up with that?

Has anyone tried to bang their head off the toilet in hopes of inventing the Flux Capacitor?

Who else (besides me) has the theme for "Greatest American Hero" in their music collection?

Let's say you knew Brett Ratner's personal bodyguard. How would you manipulate that situation?

    1. – Legend of Zelda

      – Final Fantasy II

      – Altered Beast

      – Final Fantasy VII

      – God of War

      – Zelda: Ocarina of Time

      – Eternal Darkness

      – Only when lit on fire

      – Laughably bad

      – Creed: My Own Prison and the soundtrack to the movie "The Rock"

      – Triceratops

      – Because we are not blind and deaf

      – The writers hit a wall and just drew a random idea out of the "idea hat" and went with it.

      – Every day, at least once a day

      – Just you

      – I would pay the man $1,000 to punch Mr. Ratner in the face just one time, but really hard

      -M

    2. Q. Why did Hellen Keller's dog kill itself?

      A. You would kill yourself too if your name was nvyuehruliknfui

      1. Yes. At the very least, passing up Kevin Durrant looks extremely stupid on Portland's part.

  4. Favorite person you interviewed?

Person you would like to interview?

How did you get to where you are today?/What made you want to study what you did in college?

    Favorite author (of a book)?

I'm trying to think of more still.

  5. every question i have for you will result in you getting in trouble. so i refrain

    actually heres one (*snicker)

what compels you to believe that your life is so impressive that we have to sit and fire questions like astonished school children about how interesting we think you and your life experiences have been?

no one has ever asked me about how cool it is to run the car wash at the richmond va ups hub

actually…theres my coffee talk…everyone can ask me questions about my own daily struggles of queing up package cars to be washed and gassed

(in case anyone cant tell–im joking..sorry ray, i just thought it would be funny to turn it around, cause my life is so mundane…lol)

    1. also, thanks for posting those pictures of the choose your own adventure books. They bring back crazy, field of dreams type memories

    2. @thundercracker

i always wondered how those UPS trucks stayed so clean. Being that you're in VA, the numbers may be different but about how much trucks, do you schedule to get washed on a weekly basis?

    3. If somebody threw a pile of dookie at one of the trucks, how would you know it was there to clean it off?

    4. How many times have you contemplated taking out one of the trucks in the middle of the night and "surfing" on top of it like in Teen Wolf?
