This Week’s Videogame Releases

This is a pretty huge week for the videogame business. In the short term, Halo Reach is out and it will surely be one of the biggest games of 2010. PlayStation Move is also out this week; while analysts are unsure of its short-term impact, Sony will be trying to make it a big deal for years to come. Lastly, Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest hits several platforms…which is great for gamers still living in 2004.

I know that some of you are buying Reach (thanks so much for those Amazon orders!). Anyone else want to fess up to their Halo purchases? Any other games on your wish list this week?

  1. I'm just waiting on Reach to arrive. Of course I think technically it would be considered last weeks purchase, lol.

    I got PvZ last week and it is a lot of fun. *rant* It is too bad that it is only an arcade game though, from the perspective of achievements and trophies. I know the same can (and was) said about Peggle, but for being little arcade games PopCap puts so much stuff to do into these two games especially. They could easily have the standard 1000G instead of just 200G. There is just so much that you could do and ways that you could play the game. Even the iPod touch version has some good achievements and it is a shame that they couldn't really add ones more like that. I cannot say enough good things about PvZ. It is well worth the $15. *end rant*

    Spider-man Shattered Dimensions still looks good, but they were out at the video store so I had to pick up a different game instead to play until Reach.

  2. I hate HALO but I will play the single player game…eventually.

    The next game I purchase will be R.U.S.E I'm a sucker for Ubisoft lol. I also picked up (or is it picked down?) Braid this weekend and me and my girlfriends' brains haven't hurt like this in a while haha!

  3. Quite honestly, I'm more likely to buy Phineas and Ferb Ride Again for the DS this week than Halo: Reach. It's just never been my thing. And Phineas and Ferb is actually a pretty funny show….

    Yeah, I know. I'm lame.

  4. I would get move but I'm waiting for a game that I really would like to play with motion controls to come out (star wars the force unleashed 2)

  5. @ Nightshade

    Doofenschmirtz FTW!!!

    I'm a parent too and Phineas and Ferb is always on at my house. That show rocks. I got the first DS game for my son and it was awesome as well.

  6. I'll be getting the Reach Console as soon as I scrape up some funds in addition to money I have to save for the PS Move stuff too.

  7. @Nightshade and N8R

    Heck I don't have kids but I like to watch Phineas and Ferb. So if anyone is lame that'd be me.

  8. @Nightshade;

    I was going to say (before N8 beat me to it) that you're given a pass on Phineas and Ferb since you have a kid. I think my 4-year old nephew is getting into that now because he was talking about it the other day.

    @topic;

    I reserved my copy at Gamestop ONLY because a friend of mine had given me a $25 gift card for Gamestop two years ago. I was planning on using it to buy the 360 S with the $100 off trade-in purchase special, but I left it at home so I used it to get Reach instead. And for those of you who can't read between the line, that means that I have not bought anything at Gamestop for over two years and if I didn't have that gift card, it would have been over three years, easily. Why is it that people feel the need to give me gift cards to places I don't ever buy anything at?

    Isn't there any place online where people can go to exchange gift cards that are gifted to them, but don't really use? I figured if lots of people out there have gift cards they don't want, they can go online and see what other people have and swap gift cards (likely of equal or similar value) that each party would like.

    Well, back on topic; Sandrock and I are probably going to get together this weekend and go through the game together if anybody is interested in doing the 4-man co-op. I’m going to try to pick up my game tonight at midnight, but I stayed up way too late last night and I’m probably just going to go home and crash and pick up the game tomorrow morning.

    Thanks, Sandrock! No amount of coffee is able to keep me awake today.

    … I’m going to have to try something stronger… like crack.

  9. Oh, and, by the way; if anyone is wondering about my new Gravatar, I figured that if Thundercracker is being a good sport, the least I could do is introduce you guys to our new Dolphins linebacker.

    Expect more of this type of visual self-gratification if we (Dolphins) keep winning.

  10. Just had a bunch of problems with my ISP, F@#% Comcast! Finally got everything fixed, but it got worse after I did what they were suggesting I do in order to fix everything.

    Now I just need my new console to get here and get that set up and I should be ready to go.

  11. Ha! Good one- Wait… hold on. Do you mean "That's what she said" to my "coffee/awake" comment or my "trying crack" comment?

  12. WOO-HOO!! I just got Reach and I'm heading home. If anyone wants to join up with me, I'll be online in a few minutes. Send me a message on XBL (Silicon Iceman). I tried to get some of my IRL friends to play, but they are all giant vaginas.

    As for me; my wife is working late tonight, I have my Rush mix tape and a 20 oz. bottle of Shasta.

    Let's rock.

    Have fun. My xbox is in Indianapolis as of 11:38pm yesterday (technically). So I will be waking up early to make sure I am awake and ready when it arrives, which is hopefully in the morning.

    @Ray

    This is just another one of my random tech urges, but all of a sudden I really want an android phone just to mess around with. No contract or anything, I have tons of wi-fi everywhere I go so I would just use that like I do my iPod touch. I like the look of the nexus one for something like that so it would be my anDroid touch. haha.
