Coffee Talk #197: Who’s Your Favorite Super Villain?

In yesterday’s Coffee Talk, we had a fun conversation about our favorite superheroes. Let’s take a stroll on the dark side today and talk about our favorite super villains! In comics, games, movies, etc., heroes are only as good as their villains. Threats seem much more epic when they’re executed by a devious mastermind. The fictional world needs great villains!

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Steven Slater gloriously quitting his Jet Blue job, why the hell Evander Holyfield is still fighting, or if the voices in your head talk to Randy Orton’s, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

I gravitate towards guys like Darkseid and Thanos. They’re ridiculously powerful character with complex powers, yet their goals are so simple — they’re just want to kill everyone. Darkseid is obsessed with the Anti-Life Equation, while Thanos wants to kill millions in order to get Lady Death in bed.

More recently, I’ve enjoyed Prometheus in DC Comics. He’s smart, cool, calculated, and frickin’ funny. I love that he’s a chatterbox that flippantly talks about his plans and he’s dispatching great heroes (dude nearly took out the Justice League by himself!). In a lot of ways, he reminds me of a smarter version of Spider-Man gone evil.

How about you guys and dolls? Who are you some of your favorite villains?

  1. @ Evander

    Last I checked he was millions in debt which is why his old ass is still fighting.

  2. @Evander

    I read that his house (term used loosely) in Atlanta needed close to 25k per month to maintain. That is utilities and the various product and labor services needed. Perhaps excess in things that only depreciate is why he is fighting?

    @topic

    I was always fond of Lobo and Darkseid. The Joker has to be mentioned…but Darth Vader is the best villain of all time. Hands down.

    Honorable mention to Thulsa Doom.

  3. Medusa heads are a bitch Sandrock!

    I really don't have a fav villian actually. I know I don't care for Bane when he broke Batman's back.

  4. Its either Carnage from Spider-man, Aizen from Bleach, Vegeta from DBZ, or Bruce Lee's inner demon from the dragon movie.

  5. ok its doctor doom…but for awhile it was thanos when he had the infinity gauntlet…just something about omnipotence thats awesome

  6. @ray

    check this crap out…this is going to be my next phone….

    @everyone

    you might wanna check this out too

  7. That's an interesting mock-up. I wonder which carrier it will be on if true? If it is ATT then I think 3G gaming on it will not be so hot for reasons of a low cap and shoddy speed in quite a few markets.

  8. this is true smartguy, but games dont necessarily need to be played online either, im just worried about internal memory and hard drive space

  9. @thundercracker

    3G connectivity will be the norm I feel for portable gaming. The chipsets are cheap and they can have your software phone home every time you launch it. I also think Sony needs 3G to try and move the PSP brand forward.

    Is the catalog for the GO any good?

  10. not really, but neither are sales

    yeah i cant really argue with anything you said

  11. @thundercracker No need to be sorry man. It's my fault for not posting a story sooner — just been busy with the pay-the-bills project and had unexpected guest from out of town last night. It's all good!

  12. I agree wit big blak number 2 is my favorite supervillain. *grunts* who does number 2 work for?!

    No seriously, it's a tie for me between lex luthor and the joker. I really can't choose between the two.

    @jet blue guy

    I wouldve quit that way too. It reeks of pure win.

    @evander

    We shouldnt blame him. We should blame the promoters who keep booking him.

    @voices in randys head

    I'm still finding myself trying to understand randys new face popularity. He's a face but still does heel like things. I'm kinda meh on summerslam but i hear the rock may be the 7th man for team cena. Any truth to that rpad?

    I apologize in advance for any typos grammar or double posts im using my iphone. Oh btw iphone people buy sw battle for hoth it's pretty kool and addicting.

    I wouldve quit that way too. It's pure win.

  13. 2 is a mofo.

    @tokz_21 I haven't heard anything about The Rock. It would be easy to do since it's in LA, but I doubt it's true. I want to write a story about my wish for the 7th man. I'll try to do it on my lunch break.

  14. @rpad thanks. Hopefully my phone holds up. I've been playing battle for hoth off an on since 6a your time. I'm down to 23%!

  15. @ray
