This Week’s Videogame Releases

After several weeks of boring releases, mid-May delivers with authority! The Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake is out this week and numerous critics have compared it to Sony’s Heavy Rain, but with broader appeal. On the multiplatform kick there’s Red Dead Redemption, Split / Second, and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Last but not least is Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow for Nintendo DS.

With all the great games available this week, I want to know if you’re planning on picking anything up. Please let me know!

  1. I am still waiting on last week's release to make it into the store. So nothing for me this week either.

  2. I was expecting to pick up UFC 2010 this week but apparently it is releasing on 5/25. I am very much interested in Split/Second because the demo kicked ass, its sooooo arcadish, and the same team that made Pure is behind this and Pure was off the hook!

  3. I was torn which game to get this week, Alan Wake or Red Dead. I then remembered how awesome Red Dead was at PAX East. Alan Wake will be nest weeks purchase.

That is once the Reach Beta ends and I beat the second episode of Sam and Max Season 3 (which also releases tomorrow…thanks Telltale!)

  4. the game informer review of red dead totally sold me on it.

as soon as anyone gets it, i want DETAILS!!

    @rrod

    talking to you bro

  5. i'm thinking about renting Red Dead Redemption today. According to blockbuster it's in stock at my local store. Anyone picking this up for PS3?

  6. Just picked up Red Dead Redemption since stores STILL don't have Batman GOTY edition in yet.

Yeah the original Batman AA is everywhere (not that $28.54 cheap though). The Game Of The Year Edition was supposed to come out last week but no one got them in. Its $10 more than the original but the extras it comes with pretty well pays for that.

  8. @slicky

the walmart link has the goty edition. Its the bottom two in that page. Look at it again.

  9. @tokz

That's odd. That's way cheap. But it still isn't at any of their stores, only online. I am hoping to buy it at Best Buy because I have $105 worth of Best Buy Rewards Coupons to spend that expire soon. But I'll save them if Wal-mart's price is correct and they didn't just mislabel the original.

i'll let you know if it is the right one. I'll order it when i get home. If you do break down and order it. Choose site to store delivery, its free shipping.

wow! this game is sold out online! this has to be the GOTY edition. I'll actually have to travel out of state to get this game.

  12. @Tokz

Somehow I think that maybe it never did ship. Seems odd that it would be gone everywhere. Did you find someplace out of state that has it?

yeah for me the nearest place is near hammond indiana. it's about a good 30 miles from me but i drive half of that to go see my gf. she lives right by the Illinois/Indiana border. Well i find it funny that it's out of stock online too. Red Dead Redemption was like that this morning because my friend wanted me to order it for him to get a $20 gc and i would sell it to him and i checked it out because i was going to buy AA; but guess what it was back in stock. I wonder is AA will be back in stock tomorrow???
