While I’m Waiting for My Connection….

Here are some pictures from the airport lounge. I’m not trying to show off or anything. I just want it to be known that I’m probably the only guy here that’s not in a suit…and quite possibly the most buzzed person in the house. *sigh* I’m going to miss you guys while I’m in the air.

I will be trying out Anchor Steam and Foghorn this weekend. I found them at Binny's unfortunately there was no Tsing Tao, i guess it's not as popular as Sapporo.

  2. @Tokz

Old Foghorn is a barley wine, enjoy. I like beers that are very hoppy, so that is why I'm very fond of anything Sierra Nevada puts out. If you like hops, try them while you are at it.

Boo! that place doesn’t have Tecate! I’m disappointed. Tecate has been my beer of choice recently. I’ve squeezed from lime juice into the glass with some salt pour the beer and it tastes awesome! Have a safe trip!

  4. crap, I meant some lime juice not from. I don’t have my glasses today. expect many more grammar and spelling errors today.

  5. @tokz_21 I don’t think Tecate is allowed in this lounge. Let me go check the beer selection.

Update: It’s an interesting assortment of Tsing Tao (love), Sapporo (like a lot), Becks (okay), Corona (no thank you), and Anchor Steam (yes please!).

I’ve never had Anchor Steam or Tsing Tao, if i see it at a Binny’s i’ll have to try them out per your recommendation. Thank you for agreeing with me on Corona, most overhyped Mexican imported beer ever. If you find some Tecate and if you haven’t tried it my way please let me know what you think. I find it much better than squeezing the lime into the bottle or can and it’s a plus over salt-ing the rim. I hate those chunk of salt!

  7. @tokz_21 Anchor Steam is from a small San Francisco brewery. It was actually in my neighborhood. Great stuff. Tsing Tao (pronounced ching dow) is a Chinese beer that’s brewed to old German specifications. Germans actually set up a brewery when they tried to invade China.

I like Tecate without having tried it. I just know that the company sponsors a lot of Golden Boy Promotions fights. As an Oscar mark, I have to support Tecate. The taste test will have to wait until I get back to America. I’m pretty sure I won’t find it in Asia.

  8. I had to search for it, but they do have a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label…so it can’t be all bad! haha

I love Anchor Steam. 2 pints of Old Foghorn will do you fine. Anchor is my favorite north american brewer…followed closely by Sierra Nevada. So good.

  10. Yeah, I doubt you will find Tecate in Asia…kinda like Samuel Smith’s in England..doesn’t exist.

( i have a brewing degree and love making and trying new brews whenever I get the chance)

  11. @smartguy Anchor Steam was like 1/4 mile from my apartment in SF. If you ever go, I highly suggest going on the tour…and drinking all their different stuff.

Update: I decided that I will drink one in your honor. This will be the last drink before it’s time to board.

  12. @Ray
I appreciate the honor drink. SF is one of my vacation destinations within the next few years and the tour is high on the list. I’d love to sit back and drink pints of Liberty Ale (rare on tap down here) and Old Foghorn. If you get the chance ever, try Bigfoot Ale from Sierra Nevada. Absolutely incredible.

I used to be a senior brewer at the Abita Brewing Company. My favorite brews we made were Red Ale and Turbodog. Turbodog is not for the weak.

I don’t really have a certain type of beer that i go for. I try to taste a new type of beer when i travel especially from local micro breweries. I’ll try anything once.

  14. Bud Light and lots of them for me!!

or some Cap’n & Diet Coke with a lime.

  15. @Big Blak I also love Belgian white ales. I love Hoegaarden as a beer and because the name cracks me up. Whenever I drink one I inevitably say, “You know…I wish I had a ho garden.”
