I Have American Idol Fever…and Adam Lambert Continues to Fail

Adam Lambert album cover

American Idol is one of my guilty pleasures. I can admit it and I’m not ashamed that I enjoy it. With all the season eight contestants’ albums out and Adam Lambert making news for his performance at the American Music Awards, I’m super psyched for season nine to start in January. Until then, I’ll have to make do with Lambert’s problems with the media. Here’s a funny clip from VoteForTheWorst:

Adam Lambert continues to fail miserably. In the wake of his AMA performance, ABC canceled his Good Morning America appearance. Now they’ve canceled his Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance and his appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s New Years Eve. DOUCHE FAIL. We hate to say we told you so, but we’re P R E S C I E N T as always.

Also, make sure to call 818-460-7477 and leave a message for ABC to ask them to cancel Adam Lambert’s interview with Barbara Walters as well. And also thank ABC for canceling all of his subsequent performances after the AMAs. Good taste, ABC. Good taste.

Honestly, I think Lambert is getting a raw deal because he’s gay. Yes, he put on an erotically charged performance at the AMAs…but so what?!? The show was on late and I believe he has a point that it was overly scrutinized because of his sexuality.

Anyway, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the matter and to see if there’s anyone that enjoys American Idol too. There are going to be a bunch of AI articles coming in January. You’ve been warned.

Btw, Lambert’s album cover totally reminds me of Poison’s Look What the Cat Dragged In. Does anyone else see that? Here’s a picture of the Poison cover for reference.

  1. That picture alone makes me want to vomit into a bag and drink it. (or just vomit since my stomach is a bit queasy at the moment.) As for AI, Daughtry is the only person I listen to that came from AI. I'm sure I will be feed up with AI by the end of next season because some one in my house loves it and likes to watch it way past my bedtime. But, no hate towards you, R-Pad, for liking it.

  2. Actually, I looked at the picture and my very first reaction was "wow, that chick is hot." But then I realized it was kind of a guy, and then I thought, "Damn, too bad that guy doesn't have breasts and a vag."

Thanks for the heads up about the upcoming American Idol articles, Mr. Padilla. I'll be sure to avoid those like the plague and the numerous Dragon Age articles/comments you write. Don't get me wrong, I am planning on playing Dragon Age sometime next year (when I get a chance, hopefully), but as much as you and other people talk about it, I sometimes feel that I know about everything about the game before I even pop the disk in the tray.

  3. Him being gay is not the problem. Everyone knows he's gay. The problem was him trying to shove homosexuality down America's throats on live tv. He should have know that kissing another man would get him blackballed.

  4. @Iceman There's WAY too much going on in Dragon Age for me to spoiLARize for it you with comments, I assure you.

@RRODisHere Several artists shove their heterosexuality down America's throats. I understand why Lambert is getting shunned, but I don't think it's right.

  5. @Raymond Padilla

Because heterosexuality natural, normal, and accepted by all. Again, him being gay isn't the problem. Kissing another man on tv is. The bottom line is homosexuality is not accepted by all and some people, including myself, don't agree with it. However, I don't shun or discriminated against any gays. That's their life. Adam needs to cool it if he wants to have a successful career. We all knew Clay Aiken was gay from the start and when he came out he didn't do anything like what Adam insists on doing and Clay has had success and he's a great singer.

  6. @RRODisHere This is where we disagree. I don't think homosexuality is unnatural or abnormal and I have no problem with a man kissing another man on TV. It's his preference and that's cool with me. I find it interesting that more people have a problem with a man kissing another man than a woman kissing another woman.

  7. @Raymond Padilla

Yes, that's definitely where we disagree. You're right that there is a double standard about men kissing men is soooooooo much worse than women kissing women. Personally, women kissing women is just as unnatural as men kissing men, IN MY OPINION. In my younger days when I used to watch porn I always skipped the parts when women were with other women.

  8. I have to agree with RROD on this one. Homosexuality is abnormal. I have no problem with him being gay or anyone being gay for that matter. Do I think it is right? No. Am I trying to get him or any other gay to play for the other team? No. I think he should have thought the better of it instead of going for shock value on broadcast television. There is a time and place for that and it isn't on broadcast tv. I do think Lambert has a point that he isn't a babysitter. HOWEVER, if you are on broadcast tv, you should probably be a bit more conservative/thoughtful/humble.

You are right though Ray..part of it is because he's gay. I think his performance should be scrutinized…but the cancelling of all of his appearances is repugnant. They knew who he was and now they are just being despicable.

  9. @Smartguy

Yes, they knew he was gay but they didn't know that he would kiss another man on live tv. We all knew Janet Jackson was controversial but we didn't know that she would show her breast on live tv and she paid the price for her foolishness just like Adam will have to do.

  10. I gotta say that girl-on-girl action is hot… especially when I am in between them. HA!

That reminds me of the scene from the movie Office Space:

Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars?

Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.

Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?

Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.

Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.

Lawrence: Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.

    Peter Gibbons: Good point.

    Classic.

  11. @RROD

True, he must live with the consequence of what he has done. I don't think he needed to prove he was gay like he did. Him telling me he was is quite enough.

  12. IMO

Standard one man one woman relationships should be more promoted just because they help continue to human race naturally, in most cases anyway. And who doesn't like babies?? Actually I think babies are creepy but nevermind that.

  13. @RRODisHere Here's where I think you're crazy. Beautiful lesbians making out? That's just awesome to me.

@Smartguy I don't think he was trying to prove anything. It was just part of a performance. It reminded me of a gay version of Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted Snake" video. It's not something I want to take part in, but I didn't find Lambert's performance offensive at all.

@Arguello I dunno about that. There are a lot of stupid people that shouldn't be reproducing. Two of my favorite people are married and very smart, but they don't want to have kids. I keep trying to tell them they're doing humanity a disservice.

  14. @Raymond Padilla

Ha, I knew you guys would think I'm crazy for that admission. It's the truth though. Two women kissing each other (what else can they do) never did anything for me.

  15. @Ray

I completely agree with you, Stupid people really don't need to have babies. But think of it this way, Every great base in Starcraft started out with a lame SCV, Probe, or mindless drone.

  16. I honestly thought that was a picture of Pink until I read further.

I only watch American Idol up until Hollywood week… then the fun is over for me.

    @RROD

    "What else can they do?"…

I really need to lend you some videos.

  17. @N8R

See, if they use fake parts then why not just get the real thing………….a man?

  18. @Raymond Padilla

I wouldn't say stupid people don't need to have kids. How many times have we heard the same old story from smart and successful people like "I didn't have a father" or "I had a bad child hood" yet they went on to become successful and in some cases, rich. If you're not being a father to your child I classify that under stupid among other things.

  19. @ RROD

One stays up longer than the other. It's getting harder and harder (no pun intended) to keep up (again no pun intended) with technology.

  20. @RROD

Better yet. If they are going to use fake parts, then why bring two girls into the picture. I'm sure they can handle themselves just fine on their own.

  21. @ R Pad

I personally think that successful people tend to have rotten kids.

There really are exceptions to the "stupid people shouldn't breed" rule.

  22. @ N8R

Didnt see Pink until I read your post but now I can see the resemblance.

I dont know who this guy is I never watched american idol or any of the so called reality shows.I guess its not a reality show but it showed up about the same time I believe.

I tend to stick to history chanel science channel discovery etc and cartoons fam guy etc.

  23. Sandrock has a good point. I'm straight and the thought of men kissing makes me sick to my stomach. I shouldn't have to see that on live tv.

  24. @Sandrock323 I'm straight and I don't think it's gross.

@RRODisHere Sure, that's true. A lot of people are successful based on drive and some are just lucky. Smarter people just have a better chance at positively contributing to the world.

    @N8R Paris Hilton?

  25. @N8R

Agreed. Successful people breed snooty little brats.

    @Sandrock

    Another great point.

  26. @ N8R

Yea I believe you I saw pink after I read your comment.

Dont know if it is the hair eyes pose or the combo but yea definitely can see someone making that mistake.

  27. @Sandrock323 I still live here. :P Also, growing up in New York exposes you to all sorts of cultures, communities, ethnicities, etc. I'd say even more so than California.

  28. my gf is bisexual. she used to date a lot more girls than guys when she was back in high school. and i think that's hot.

  29. @Arguello;

That is a surprisingly deep analogy on the evolution of human society. I salute you, sir.

  30. @Ray

That is very similar to how I make my burgers. I put a few links of cooked boudin in mine. Comes out real nice. If not boudin is available, I use andouille. GIves a nice kick.

  31. American Idol, helping kill the music industry one week at a time.

Kelly Clarkson was the only one I really can stand to listen to,and if they all have albums, it kinda defeats the purpose of being the winner I think.

2 guys kissing really doesn't bother me. I want to know why Madonna and Brittany were not kicked around like this when they kissed.

  32. everyone should remember my stand on homosexuality from "The feed"…i think that people are born gay. Thats the central issue here. If people are born gay, then homosexuality should not be made fun of, it should be like making fun of someones race, or physical deformities or whatnot.

However, if im wrong, and its a choice, then its cool to make fun of it. Hell, ill make fun of a mormon to their face, because its their CHOICE, ill make fun of a jets fan, to their face, cause its their CHOICE.

that being said, yeah, i do find it gross. Id be lying if i said i didnt.

And also im with RROD on the lesbian thing, its great to look at, but wtf does that accomplish for me? I dont watch porn to see two girls get to second base with each other, i wanna see a slutty girl doing the one thing shes good for, getting used

  33. One of my favorite hours of standup comedy ever was Louis CK, shameless….his view on gay dudes is almost exactly the same as mine

please watch that, its only a minute long

  34. heres another louis ck thing that i think totally sums up this issue

just listen to the first minute, if you would

  35. i actually got to see lewis black live, dude is awesome

if anyone has any good standup specials, please let me know, i love me some good standup that might be under the radar

    1. Eddie Izzard has been my favorite for the last decade or so. "Dressed to Kill" is his most popular show, but I love them all — very smart stuff with lots of history and pop culture thrown in.

      [Writing from my BlackBerry!]

  36. @Ray – Eddie ftw. My wife and I really love Circle, the Monkeys Don't Kill People skit and the Death Star Cantina being our favorites. Class act off a guy and extremely hilarious.

  37. LoL I love Mitch Hedberg:

"I've got an oscillating fan at my house. The fan goes back and forth. It looks like the fan is saying "No". So I like to ask it questions that a fan would say "no" to. "Do you keep my hair in place?… Do you keep my documents in order?… Do you have three settings? Liar! My fan fucking lied to me. Now I will pull the pin up. Now you ain't sayin' shit."
