Xbox Live Preview Program: Zune, Facebook, and Twitter

Xbox Live logo

Microsoft has announced a preview program revolving around the Zune, Facebook, and Twitter functionality of Xbox 360. Here are the official bullet points:

  • We’re looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good
  • This opportunity is open to all Xbox LIVE Members in regions where Xbox LIVE is available
  • Just completing the survey does not automatically get you access to the Preview Program. We’ll be making final selections from the completed surveys and send you an email if you are selected.
  • While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, Priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.

Anyone giving this a try? What are expectations for Zune, Facebook, and Twitter on Xbox 360?

  1. That was a lot of info. I'm surprised they didn't ask me what my SSN was. Be prepared, they want to know your internet speed (after you test it on a site they provide) and TV manufacture and model number. This is in addition to the info asked in previous preview programs (system serial number, ID number, modem brand and model, ect).

  2. They wanted a speed test from a certain site. It was a PC speed test and wouldn't run on my macbook. I am not gonna jump through hoops to use twitter and facebook on my xbox. I use them enough on m computer. I want my xbox for gaming.

Honestly, the updates are all cool but I will not use them a ton. I would prefer more details about Natal.

I use Twitter as a source for news headlines, so it would be nice to have access to it on my 360. However, I haven't seen anything about the Twitter integration, only the Facebook and Zune. My hope is to be able to check my Twitter feed while in game. That would prove very useful.
